This book exists to assert the reality of the famous. When Tinker Bell followed Peter Pan to Hollywood in the 1950s, fairies vanished into the realm of child-lore. The pictures were taken in 1917 by 16-year-old Elsie Wright and her nine-year-old cousin. In 1917, when the first two photographs were taken, Elsie was 16 years old and Frances was 9. The mystery of the Cottingley fairies would go on to endure for over 60 years until finally, in 1983, the two cousins admitted that the photographs had been faked using cut-out illustrations from a book.
